Frankenweenie and Hotel Transylvania’s got nothin’ on San Diego this Halloween! From North County to downtown San Diego, there’s an eerie event or ominous occasion taking place where adults, teens and children alike seek out a disturbing adventure. We thought we’d help do the homework of finding the perfect spook for everyone in San Diego.
For a solid scare created for the extreme fear junkie, head to the Haunted Hotel and Haunted Trail in Balboa Park, or Scream Zone in Del Mar. Psychos from your favorite horror movies come to life at the Haunted Hotel and Trail – with the goal of scaring you straight. Explore the Scream Zone by riding the Haunted Hayride through the creepy and creaky barns of the Del Mar racetrack or wandering through the House of Horror and The Chamber.
Now, if skin-crawling fear and bone-chilling terror isn’t your cup of tea, but you still love the Halloween spirit, there are plenty of family-friendly experiences awaiting your arrival. Transform into your favorite Disney character, or go back in time and fill the shoes of legendary Greek Gods when you dress in costume and partake in Seaworld’s Halloween Spooktacular and Legoland’s Brick-or-Treat Celebration.
The above Halloween events have been around for years – but this year, there’s a new ride in town – the Halloween Haunted Hayride at La Costa Resort and Spa. To our North County neighbors, you no longer need to trek the family downtown for a spooky draw. Taking guests on a “spooktacular” ride, encountering goblins and ghosts around every turn, those willing to brave the mysterious snack shack’s eerie fog and ghoulish noises will be treated to s’mores and Halloween activities such as concocting homemade “blood.”
With a change of theme, these hayrides will continue into the holiday season. The Holiday Hayrides will take you into a winter wonderland, complete with snow, holiday lights, and Mrs. Clause.
So, who’s brave enough to come out for the very first Haunted Hayride at La Costa? Check the dates below and mark your calendars to come out.
