The beginning of summer is always the time of year my commitment to fitness gets renewed. The longer days, the even more perfect San Diego weather, the prospect of days at the beach looming. All of these are surely motivators. But I don’t recall ever feeling inspired to work out simply by visiting a retail store.
That all changed today with my first visit to the LiveWell Boutique at La Costa. It was my first visit, because the store literally opened only this morning, after a week of people (including me) peering thru the windows, watching it all take shape.
The boutique is named LiveWell as a nod to La Costa’s LiveWell programming and the resort’s promise to “help you feel better when you depart than you did when you arrived.” The shop is light and bright, filled with vibrant clothing and accessories that are fun enough to inspire even the most die-hard couch potato.
How could you not feel good wearing something new from Beyond Yoga? The colorful fabrics are the softest I’ve ever felt and the stretchiness creates a beautiful, feminine shape.
After browsing through a selection of vibrant hipster stretch pants, and looking nostalgically at some totally cute Speedos (when did Speedos become so cool?), my eyes settled on a few stunning Spanx swimsuits. What an amazing invention. With that suit, I might be able to skip a few workouts.
Several products both caught my eye and embraced my inner tree-hugger… Fashionable glass, silicone-wrapped water bottles from BKR that beg you to “give up your plastic habit.” And a line of clothing from ALO all made of sustainable fabrics—so soft I imagine you’d want to sleep in them.
I definitely recommend that everyone put a visit to the new LiveWell Boutique on their shopping to-do list. And for me, the gravitational pull of this shop just might inspire me to change my ice cream order at the nearby Marketplace to a very healthy LiveWell smoothie.
